BIOGRAPHY
Bennie was a full-back, back-pocket and half-back-flanker. Early in his career he struggled to gain regular senior selection due to a champion full-back Vic Thorp holding down that position. Bennie later played with Hawthorn before moving to VFA club Sandringham. Apart from his football, he was awarded the Imperial Service Medal by the Queen for his work prior to and during the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He also played Senior XI District Cricket with Richmond in 1925/26 scoring 93 runs with a highest score of 39. Bennie died in 1985.
