A vote of the Richmond Municipal Council decides that a gate is to be placed in the fence opposite Tanner Street allowing residents to use the traditional pathway that crosses the RCG.
Sept.
The Lonsdale Cricket Club fences the old Richmond Tradesmen’s ground (Botanical Reserve).
Ground: During the winter of 1862 the Richmond Cricket Club had increased the area of the RCG’s drainage system and resewn the field. The rains that swamped the ground for five or six weeks nullified such works. The drains were clogged and inoperative, and patches of seed failed to germinate.
