May 18 Richmond’s match against Collingwood is postponed due to the poor weather.
May 22 The practice of changing ends at half time rather than after each goal (a practice that had been used informally for some time) is formalised in the rules.

Richmond claims the Junior Challenge Cup after it defeats East Melbourne one goal to nil.

Aug. 31
The Australasian reports that Collingwood’s appeal for a goal against East Melbourne on June 15 had been dismissed. If the goal had been awarded Richmond and Collingwood would have been level on points and a play off for the Junior Challenge Cup would have eventuated.

Richmond loses to Melbourne (16 players) on Melbourne’s ground. Richmond held the senior club in the first half but Melbourne kick two second half goals to win.

Sept. 14
Richmond’s captain Fred Hyde captains the combined juniors team against the senior club Melbourne. Tom Kendall, Barnett, Michael Carter and W. Carter are other Richmond players selected. George Bruce is named as an emergency.

Sept. 28
The Town of Richmond is proclaimed. It has approximately 17,000 residents.
Richmond was scheduled to play North Melbourne at Royal Park but as Richmond do not show North claim a walk-over victory.

Dec. 6
While practicing gymnastics the twenty one year old Fred Hyde falls on his head and is rendered insensible. He will die one week later from his injuries.
