Maurie Fleming retires as secretary of the Richmond Football Club after 15 years, due to ill health.
Seconds Eighteen President Bob Knapp, and 17 years honorary timekeeper Bill Stanborough receive life memberships. Brian Boland presented with 5-year certificate.

With discussions around widening Punt Road (and thereby losing 14ft from the ground), the club had began discussion with the Melbourne Cricket Club about sharing the MCG. However those talks are put on hold until after the 1956 Olympics.
The Richmond Cricket Club reveal they've been approached the Soccer Association to rent the ground should the football club move to the MCG
