Practice Matches at Albert Park , No. 20, 11am, 1pm and 3pm
Kevin Sheedy injures his wrist, Geoff Strang suffers ankle injury, Brian Roberts, Craig McKellar, Bruce Tschirpig, and Ian Stewart first hitout with Richmond. Greg Hollick played (on Ian Stewart). Royce Hart at full-forward kicked 5 goals, with Barry Richardson playing on him.
Barrott did not play due to shin soreness

Saturday 13
Possible practice match - Bruce Tschirpig received a cut to his head.

Sunday 14
Intraclub practice match: Brian Roberts, Craig McKellar, Michael Green, Malcolm Greenslade, Royce Hart (kicked 5.7), Bruce Tschirpig, Eric Moore played. Ian Stewart did not play due to ankle injury.

Tuesday 16
Intraclub practice match for 1 hour at Punt Road. Bill Brown, Ray Boyanich, Rex Hunt, Graeme Bond, Bruce Tschirpig, Eric Leech. Geoff Strang (ankle) , Mike Bowden (knee) did not play.

Saturday 20

Richmond play Glenelg in a pre-season practice match at Punt Road at 2.15pm
As a result, Richmond wear an all-blue guernsey.

Stewart suffers a bruised thigh, Sheedy with a slight muscle tear. During the last quarter Nth Adelaide had 19 men on the field.
Bowden did not play due to knee injury. Royce Hart did not play due to knee soreness.

Richmond President Ray Dunn dies, whilst in office.

Al Boord, aged 61, is appointed President of Richmond

Ian Stewart wins his third Brownlow Medal. He polls 21 votes.
He won on the last vote of the night. (Up to 8 players were in the running to win the award going into the last vote)
Earlier in the day, Stewart had attended the funeral of Ray Dunn, former Richmond President.
