BIOGRAPHY
Aaron James played junior football with Melton and then moved to play at the Western Jets TAC Cup football.
Aaron was drafted by Collingwood with pick 35 overall in the 1993 AFL National Draft. He was just 17 when he made his debut for
Collingwood in Round 1, 1994 against Hawthorn. But his only statistic was a free against. Aaron became a regular senior player in
1995 but injuries and off field incidents saw him at the end of 1997 traded to Richmond along with Collingwood’s pick 71 in the 1997 AFL Draft in exchange for Jamie Tape and Bradley J Smith. Pick 71 was used by Richmond to draft Andrew Kellaway in the 1997 AFL National Draft.
Aaron played 30 games with Richmond between 1998 to 2000 but in the last game of 2000 against Carlton he injured his knee and missed the entire 2001 season. Aaron was delisted by Richmond at the end of 2001. Aaron re-entered the draft system and was drafted by the Western Bulldogs in the 2001 AFL National Draft.
