BIOGRAPHY
Ashley was a utility player who worked his way up from the Under/19s. He was at Richmond for seven seasons. His progression had been slow due to injury, but he was a creative, athletic player who used handball well. A fine team man, he captained the Richmond Thirds in 1991. In 1995, he grabbed his opportunity when Tony Free was injured and went on to play in Richmond’s three Finals’ games. He comes from a sporting family, with brother, Shaun, representing the Victorian Sheffield Shield team and now playing with Ringwood and his father, David, playing 13 games with St.Kilda in 1960 and 1961.
