BIOGRAPHY
Born in Trafalgar (near Sale), a talented utility who started his junior career in the local Richmond area. He joined Richmond in 1939 and spent seven seasons with the club. He was skilful, tough, creative and a player who thrived on a challenge. He played an important role in the Tigers’ 1943 Premiership win, as a centreman. In 1940, he won Richmond’s Best First Year Player award, and in 1944, he won the trophy for being voted the Best Player in the Finals. He was also a member of the 1940, 1942 and 1944 Grand Final sides. After leaving Richmond, he played with great success in Tasmania. During his career he played over 300 games and was a member of six Premiership sides.
