BIOGRAPHY
Bert was a talented wingman and half-forward. Recruited from Sandhurst he had been coached by former Richmond player Bob McCASKILL. He was a very clever player who read the game very well and was a fine team man. He was second in the 1944 Best and Fairest award and vice-captain in 1945. He was a member of the 1943 Premiership side and the 1940, 1942 and 1944 Grand Final sides. He was vice captain in the 1944 Preliminary Final, and Grand Final, in the absence of Dick Harris.
He also represented Victoria once, in 1941. He later moved to Tasmania where he played with Clarence and Longford and also represented that state three times. Bert died in June, 1995.
