BIOGRAPHY
Bill was a talented rover and forward-pocket who played his first senior game with Richmond as a 17-year-old. He joined the Richmond Under/19 team in 1970 and went on to play in a Premiership side in his first year. He also played in the Reserves Premiership side in 1971. After this, he struggled throughout his football career with injuries. He was eventually forced to retire at the age of 27. He left Richmond during the 1973 season and spent six seasons with Port Melbourne, where he was a member of their 1974 Premiership side. A council worker he now lives in East Bentleigh and is a nephew of former Melbourne Premiership captain and Senior coach John Beckwith.
