BIOGRAPHY
William was a half-back-flanker. He was a tall, lightly-built player who was a fine high mark. He possessed sound judgement and a good football brain. Recruited from the local area, he was the first Richmond player, in VFL ranks, to represent Victoria. His brother, Jim, also represented Richmond in the VFA and his son, William Junior, played with the Richmond Seconds in 1928 and 1930 before crossing to Essendon via VFA club Camberwell.
