BIOGRAPHY
William was a centre-half-back and ruck-rover. Originally from Redan, he came to Richmond the year after winning the “Henderson Medal” for Best and Fairest in the Ballarat League. In 1953, he also won the Best and Fairest in the Ballarat Legue’s Under/18 Competition. At Richmond, he played in the first four games of 1958, with two being as a reserve before finishing the season in the seconds. After one season with Richmond he returned to Redan. In 1949, he won the Australian Junior Diving Championship. Away from football, he was involved in running hotels as well as managing a swimming pool complex. William died of cancer in 1974.
