BIOGRAPHY
William was a very prominent utility player in the Bendigo League. He originally started with Sandhurst before being recruited by Richmond, where he spent just over three seasons. His VFL career was interrupted due to war service, and after the war he returned to Bendigo and went on to tie in the 1947 “Michelsen Medal” for Best and Fairest in the Bendigo League. He spent four seasons as captain/coach of Eaglehawk, before returning to finish his career at Sandhurst. At the age of 36, he won the Bendigo League Reserves’ Best and Fairest award, in his second last season as a player.
