BIOGRAPHY
Brian was a back-pocket and half-back-flanker whilst at Richmond. He later ruck-roved with great success after transferring to Hawthorn, then Dandenong in the VFA. He spent four seasons with Richmond and was a member of the Under/19s Premiership sides in 1967 and 1968 being vice captain in 1968. His two senior games were both as a reserve against Fitzroy in Round 6 and Essendon in Round 12 of 1969. He then transferred to Hawthorn where he played between 1970 and 1972, and was unlucky not to play in Hawthorn's 1971 Premiership side after coming on as a reserve during the second semi-final. In 1973 he crossed to Dandenong and remained there until 1979 captaining the side in his last year. Brian is the younger brother of Kevin Shinners and now lives in Berwick. He is a plumber.
