BIOGRAPHY
Charles played most of his football as a ruckman after being recruited from a local Richmond Church team. A strong mark and long kick he spent four seasons with Richmond and was a member of the Reserves 1929 Premiership side. Charles then transferred to Carlton where he was a member of their 1932 Grand Final team that was beaten by Richmond. He was injured whilst playing the Saturday Morning League and was forced to retire. He later served in the A.I.F in Borneo and New Guinea. He worked as a manager at the Tattersall's Club in Melbourne for 30 years and died in 1983. His brother Alf represented Victoria in cricket.
