BIOGRAPHY
After 96 games and 68 goals at Adelaide, Knights became the first player to join another
club through the AFL's new free agency system at the end of 2012.
A highly regarded recruit due to his long kicking and goal sense, he had an immediate impact at the beginning of the 2013 season with 5 goals across his first 5 matches.
However, a horrific incident at Football Park against the Power in Round 8 saw Knights placed on the long term injury list, when his patella tendon detached from the bone in a contest.
Complications arising from surgery and subsequent soft tissue injuries kept him out of action until round 3 of the 2015 season. In one of the feel good stories of the season, Knights kicked a goal early in the second quarter, much to the jubilation of his team mates.
In the cruellest of blows, he would limp off the field moments later after injuring his hamstring. Despite stringing a handful of games together in the reserves midway through the season, further soft tissue injuries curtailed him. He officially announced his retirement in August, 2015 after 102 AFL games. Following his playing career, Knights has gone on to become the managing director of web design company, Zib Media. - biography by Liahm O'Brien
