BIOGRAPHY
Colin played in the back-pocket with Richmond, minding the oppositions' resting ruckman. He was a strongly-built player who used his weight, long reach and large hands to out mark taller opponents. HE moved well and was sometimes used as a relieving ruckman. He was a local Richmond boy who worked his way up from the Thirds. In a game against Essendon in Round 11 of 1959, he played opposite current Essendon President Ron Evans. The tussle between these two finished up very interesting with Evans kicking 9 goals and Colin taking 16 marks. As a result they were respectively judged best and second best on ground. Colin spent a total of eight seasons with Richmond and was a member of the Reserves 1955 Premiership side and the Seniors only night Premiership side in 1962. The latter turned out to be his last game with the club as he crossed to Sturt in 1963, spending three seasons there, before coaching Coleraine. He returned to Richmond 1971 as coach of the Under/19s and between 1972 and 1975 he coached the reserves. In 1973 whilst coach of the reserves, they lost their first three games before going on to win 22 in succession to take out the Premiership. The reserves were also runners-up in 1975. Colin was awarded Life Membership of the Richmond Football Club in 1973.
