BIOGRAPHY
Daryl was a rover and wingman who was recruited from South Mildura. He spent a lot of his career in a forward-pocket as roving partner to Kevin Bartlett. He was an accurate kick and dangerous near goal with his great pace and fine anticipation. In a game against Hawthorn in Round 19 of 1972 he kicked 5 goals after starting the game as a reserve. During his VFL career he played in a total of 27 finals games, which included the Under/19 and Reserve grades. He was a reserve on 23 occasions; however, he did play in 11 senior Finals. He only missed playing in a Final series in two of his 13 seasons. At Richmond, he played in Premiership sides with the Under/19’s in 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970; the Reserves in 1971 and 1973; and the Seniors in 1974. No Richmond player has played in more Premiership sides than Daryl. After leaving Richmond he moved to Melbourne then North Melbourne, before finishing at South Melbourne. At North Melbourne he was a member of their 1978 Reserves’ Premiership side. He returned to the Mildura area in 1980 and later became the Wentworth Football Club’s junior co-ordinator.
