BIOGRAPHY
David has played most of his senior football across the half-back line. Only in the early stages of his career he has already shown that he has a very bright future ahead. He is a strong mark and very determined. He plays with the confidence and poise of a veteran and some of the things he does such as tap-ons and shepherds seem almost second nature. He also has plenty of courage and although lightly built at this point in his career, it does not seem to worry him as he throws himself into the fray without fear. He came to the club via the Central Dragons, under the father and son rule. He was a member of the team that beat Essendon in the 1995 semi-final; however, he was surprisingly dropped for the preliminary final. He finished 1995 on a high note, winning the Best First Year Player award. There is little doubt that he was destined to play league football as both his father, Francis, and grandfather, Frank, were excellent players in their own right. This is the second grandfather, father, son combination to play with Richmond after (William, Charlie, Billy Wells).
David’s uncle Damian Drum is the assistant coach of the Sydney Swans and also played 69 games for Geelong just to make his football background complete. David was also fortunate enough to attend the famous football nursery, Assumption College where he played his early football.
