BIOGRAPHY
Des was a strong solidly-built half-back who displayed a fearless approach to the game. He was recruited from Robinvale via Grong Grong Matong. He was the target of Hawthorn, South Melbourne and St.Kilda’s talent scouts before he joined Richmond. He was unfortunately forced into retirement at the age of 24 due to a knee injury. He won Richmond’s Best First Year award in 1968 and he showed that he possessed all the necessary attributes to become a regular senior player. A former Sergeant with the Victoria Police Force he now lives in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.
