BIOGRAPHY
Dion Prestia was originally drafted by the Gold Coast from Calder Cannons with pick 9 overall in 2010 NAB AFL National Draft and played with the Gold Coast till the end of the 2016 season . Prestia announced on the 31st August 2016 he was seeking a trade and identified Richmond as his preferred destination. Prestia was eventually traded to Richmond on 19 th October 2016 in exchange for 2016 draft pick 7 ( Jack Scrimshaw ) and Richmond’s 2017 draft second round selection ( Tim Kelly ).

Dion was one of a trio of recruits secured by Richmond at end of. 2016 through trades . He, along with Toby Nankervis and Josh Caddy would have a major influence on the on-field performance of the Tigers in the years to come .
Dion at the time of being drafted was recovering from knee surgery he had at the Gold Coast, but he made his debut with the Tigers senior team in Round 1 , 2017 against Carlton before a crowd of 73,137 the largest he had ever played in front of.

Dion went on to play in the Tigers 2017 Premiership team and the Tigers 2019 Premiership team also winning the Club’s Best and Fairest ( the Jack Dyer Medal ) and being judged the 9th best player by Mark Robinson (Herald Sun ) in his top 50 AFLplayers of 2019.
Dion played only 9 games due to injury in the Covid interrupted season in 2020, but was able to get up to play in the Tigers 2020 Premiership team. Dion only played 9 senior games in season 2021 and his absence was an important part in the Tigers slipping out of Top 8 contention.
