BIOGRAPHY
Don was a back-pocket and half-back. He was a stylish player who was very consistent and reliable. Fearless and a fine drop-kick he represented Victoria in 1928 and was a member of the 1927, 1928 and 1929 Grand Final sides. He was Richmond’s best player in both the 1927 and 1928 semi-finals against Carlton. Born and bred in Richmond he left the club after a dispute with the Committee over his 5-year player’s certificate. It was reported that his clearance was also because the club could not guarantee a regular spot in the senior side. As such he was cleared on 28 April 1931. (The Age 29 April 1931)

He crossed to Collingwood where he went straight into their senior team which had just won their fourth consecutive premiership the previous year, such was his ability. He later coached Kew. He served in the Army during World War Two. Away from football, Don worked for the Board of Works.
