BIOGRAPHY
Ezra Poyas played at Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup, captained Vic Metro at both U/16 and U/18 age groups and was
selected in the 1999 U/18 All Australian team and 1999 TAC Cup team of the year. Richmond drafted Ezra with pick 22 overall in the
1999 AFL National Draft. Ezra made his senior debut for Richmond in Round 3, 2000 against North Melbourne and played 9 senior games with Richmond between 2000 and 2003 including the 2001 Preliminary Final loss to Brisbane Lions. Ezra suffered a serious
shoulder injury at training which effectively finished his career at Richmond . Ezra , while playing for Richmond’s VFL Affiliate , Coburg was a joint winner with Carlton’s Brett Blackwell of the 2001 J J Liston trophy awarded to the Best and Fairest player in the VFL each year. Ezra was delisted by Richmond at the end of the 2002 season. Ezra was drafted by Melbourne with pick 43 overall in the 2003 AFL Rookie Draft but did not play a senior game with the Demons. Ezra continued to play at Sandringham VFL and played in all three of Sandringham’s hatrick of Premierships from 2004-2006 and also played in a VFL representative team to play a WAFL team in 2007.
