BIOGRAPHY
Francis was a half-back flanker. He was unlucky not to have played more senior football at Richmond as he was a consistent and reliable defender with the reserves . A member of Richmonds’ Reserves 1973 Premiership side , he became a regular senior player with South Melbourne after being swapped as part of the John Pitura deal . He was a hard hitting defender , who never gave his opponents any latitude . A series of leg injuries eventually forced him to retire . He later worked as a recruiting officer with North Melbourne after retiring as a player . He also coached VFA club Sandringham in 1987 . away from Football , he is a physical education teacher and lives in the southern suburbs.
