Fred was a wingman who was recruited locally to Richmond from Beverley.
Easily the best wing player in junior football last season, and would be an acquisition to any team (Richmond Guardian 1913). In his first scratch matches he "dodged and ran along in great style, and is assuredly going to help the side considerably"
He missed an April practice match as he was playing with Cremorne Methodist Cricket Club
He was a member of the services during the First World War. After the war, he returned to the Richmond area and played with a local team. He was also a member of the Richmond Cricket Club Senior XI in 1913/14 scoring 202 runs with a highest score of 73.
