BIOGRAPHY
Gary was a half-forward, centreman, and full-forward. He was a creative player who was a strong mark and not afraid to get the hard ball. He was originally recruited from Devonport to Geelong in 1972 and spent the 1975 season with Richmond Reserves before crossing to Caulfield. He returned to Richmond in 1978 before returning to Caulfield he captained the club for three seasons, won two Best and Fairest and represented the VFA. He also ran equal fourth in the 1977 “Liston Trophy”.
He then returned to Tasmania after the 1981 season and became the State Director of Coaching between 1984 and 1986. He had outstanding success as a coach, in the Tasmanian Football League, winning three Premierships in six seasons whilst coaching Glenorchy and North Hobart.
