BIOGRAPHY
Gary was a utility player . He was a courageous player who moved well and took a strong mark. His outstanding junior form , at Clayton, saw him recruited to the South Melbourne Under 19 team. He later went on to play some fine games with the Sydney Swans; however , he was unable to recapture that form , with Richmond , due to a series of injuries .

Frangalas was a Richmond supporter - I always barracked for Richmond. Even when I was playing with the Swans I was following Richmond, so I was just thrilled to be a part of it (The Age 25 July 1985, pg 28).
But after just 3 weeks at Tigerland he suffered a muscle tear in his toe which sidelined him for 4 weeks. He received painkiller injections to play in the club's final practice match of 1986 against Hawthorn but suffered a torn cartilage during the match and was stretchered off VFL Park.

He moved to Dandenong in 1991 and was unfortunate to miss playing in their Grand Final side due to injury. In 1993 while playing –coach of Doveton , he was the unfortunate victim of a king hit which left him with facial injuries , and an opponent facing criminal charges . Gary has played with his original club Clayton since 1994 and is a public servant living in Narre Warren.
