BIOGRAPHY
George was a strong, well-built ruckman who spent five seasons at Richmond. He arrived at Richmond when there was an abundance of ruckmen and was unfortunate not to get more senior opportunities. He started with the reserves in 1966 and it took him until Round 10 of 1968 before he made his senior debut as a reserve against Fitzroy. He was a member of the Reserves’ 1966 Premiership side. In his last season at Richmond, 1970, he won the Reserves’ Best and Fairest, was voted Best Player in the Reserves’ Finals, and ran third in the “Gardiner Medal”. In 1971 he transferred to Tasmanian team Wynyard, where he spent three seasons, as well as playing for the Tasmanian State side. George then moved to the Mike Patterson-coached North Adelaide for four seasons and now lives in Adelaide, where he works for a finance company.
