BIOGRAPHY
Greg Tivendale played junior football originally at Rythdale-Officer-Cardinia and then moved to Gippsland Power in the TAC Cup. Greg was drafted by Richmond with pick 20 in the 1998 AFL Rookie Draft .Greg played his first game for the Richmond senior team in Round 20, 1998 against West Coast and Greg was added to Richmond’s senior list with a Rookie Elevation before the 1999 season.
Greg’s career developed gradually playing 12 games in his first two years with the club. Greg a hard running , long kicking wingman with the versatility to play other positions, from 2000 to 2007 became a regular senior player , playing 173 games ( 135 consecutively) and finishing 3 rd in the club Best and Fairest in 2003.
Greg was delisted by Richmond at the end of the 2008 season and he returned to his junior club Rythdale-Officer-Cardinia.
Greg was Richmond’s “ Homecoming Hero “ in Round 17 of 2019 when the Tigers played the GWS Giants at the MCG. Tony Greenberg (RFC Media ) recalling Greg’s career in an article on the RFC web site summarized Greg’s approach to his career ;
“ Greg gave himself the best possible chance at the game’s highest level through his first class work ethic and professional approach . He always was prepared to give his all for the Yellow and Black cause. As a person of excellent character , with strong team-first attitude , he also was extremely popular among his teammates."
