BIOGRAPHY
Ian was a wingman. He was a pacy player who had good ball skills. He originally played with St. Kilda between 1979 and 1981, after being recruited from Daylesford. He crossed to Richmond in 1982 and was a member of the 1982 Grand Final side. He also ran second in the 1985 Reserves Best and Fairest award. He unfortunately suffered a serious leg injury which severely hampered his career with Richmond and caused him to miss the 1984 season. In 1993 whilst playing with Katandra, he was struck by an opponent and suffered serious facial injuries which led to his retirement. Away from football he played 109 Senior XI District Cricket matches with North Melbourne between 1976 and 1989. He scored 2381 runs and took 60 wickets with his highest score being 158 and his best bowling figures of 7 for 34. In 1993/94 he scored 897 runs for Katandra and won the Shepparton Cricket Association's medal for the Competition's Best Player. Ian also led the Shepparton Combined side to the Division 2 title during the Country Week championships. He was twice selected to represent Australian Country XI's and now runs a general store at Katandra.
