BIOGRAPHY
John played most of his football as a follower or in the back-pocket. He was a solidly-built player whose time at Richmond was cut short due to war service in the RAAF. He was a centre-half-back for the 1942 Grand Final side. He later played briefly with Williamstown before moving to Tasmanian club Hobart as playing-coach. Whilst at Hobart he won the "Leitch Medal", Tasmania's equivalent to the "Brownlow Medal" in 1947. He coached Hobart for four seasons and also represented the state team six times. He later ran a fruit shop in Mordialloc and was living in Frankston until his death several years ago.
