BIOGRAPHY
Aarts' debut during the COVD-19 pandemic in 2020 meant he holds the record for a Richmond debut in front of the lowest crowd ever (zero), and alphabetically he is now the first Richmond player ever.
Jake Aarts has had to work hard to realize his football dream .
Growing up Jake played junior and senior footy with Beaconsfield Football Club , but was overlooked by TAC Cup junior representative teams. Moving to Bendigo Football Club he played 32 games before the Club was disbanded.
In 2015 Jake joined the Richmond VFL team as a small forward becoming a regular player with the team eventually joining the
leadership group. Jake continued to be a strong player with the VFL team and eventually was drafted by Richmond with pick 15 overall in the 2019 AFL Rookie Draft . Jake’s selection was as a result of strong and consistent form in the VFL team . Jake continued to play in what was a very strong VFL team but unfortunately due to a 4 week suspension for rough conduct against
Port Melbourne player Tom O’Sullivan in the VFL Preliminary Final he missed playing in the Tigers VFL 2019 Premiership.
Jake finally debuted with the Tigers senior team in Round 5 , 2020 against Melbourne at the MCG. Jake has been a solid contributor to the senior team through the Covid19 impacted 2020 and 2021 seasons . Jake lost his place in the senior team late in the 2020 season and missing selection in the final 22 was named as emergency in the Premiership winning team of 2020. Jake, a great team player will be intent on securing a regular place in
the senior team
