BIOGRAPHY
Jeff was a back-pocket who came to Richmond via St. Kilda where he had won the club Best and Fairest award in 1979 and 1980 as well as representing Victoria. He was a very determined player who played close to his opponents giving them no latitude. He didn’t stay at Richmond very long before moving to Tasmania, where he still lives. The bane of all coaches is bad umpiring decisions and this angered him greatly while coaching East Launceston in the Northern Tasmanian Football Association in 1985. He became so frustrated that he asked his players to stage a sit down protest on the ground. Ten of his players complied with his request at the 25 minute mark of the last quarter. For the record East Launceston lost that game by 111 points. Whilst living in Melbourne he worked as a sales representative.
