BIOGRAPHY
James was a ruckman who was recruited from North Ballarat. In his first year at Richmond, he displayed some very good form and later won the Best First Year Player award. He spent two seasons with Richmond and was a member of the Reserves’ 1955 Premiership side. He returned to North Ballarat where he went on to establish a fine record over the next eight seasons. Between 1964 and 1966 he served as an administrator and television commentator with the Ballarat Football League. He then moved to Wakool where he ran his own farm. During the 1960s he was a recruiting officer for Richmond.
