BIOGRAPHY
John played most of his football at centre-half-back. Recruited from Benalla he was a steady, consistent defender during some of the club's leanest years. He lived in Ararat whilst at Richmond, which meant commuting between Ararat and Melbourne to train and play with Richmond. He was third in Richmond's 1960 Best and Fairest award. After leaving Richmond he played with Hampden League Club Mortlake for four seasons. John returned to Ararat for one season before retiring after playing in a Premiership team with Beaufort. He is now a solicitor working with a large city law firm.
