BIOGRAPHY
Josh was drafted by Richmond with their first selection of the 2021 AFL National Draft , pick 9 overall . Josh played junior football at St Patrick’s College , Ballarat and represented Greater Western Victoria Rebels in the NAB Boys League , and was selected in the NAB Boys League Team of 2021 at Centre Half Back . After a strong pre-season ,
Richmond recognized Josh’s ability with selection for his senior team debut on 17 th March 2022 in Round 1 against Carlton in which as a tall defender he showed he was able to play at the senior level of the AFL competition . Josh is considered to be able to develop as a future leader of Tigers defence for many years.
Jan 16, 2023 - Gibcus suffers a hamstring injury at pre-season training.
Aug 1, 2023 - Gibcus is ruled out for the remainder of the season with hamstring issues.
Oct 13, 2023 - Gibcus flies to the Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha, Qatar for treatment on his hamstring. Accompanying him is Tiger physiotherapist Anthony Schache.
March 14, 2023 - Gibcus injured his ACL against Carlton
