BIOGRAPHY
Justin is a ruckman and forward. Originally from Footscray, he spent seven seasons with that club after working his way up from Under/19’s team. He is strong, mobile, fearless and a fine mark. A mulit-talented sportsman, he gave football away in 1994 to concentrate on baseball. He played with the Melbourne Monarchs as a first baseman before trying his luck in America with the Florida Marlins. He did not make the first grade in America and returned to Melbourne keen to re-establish himself in the AFL. An enthusiastic player and fine team man he has been a real acquisition to the club since being drafted in October, 1994. His adaptability as either a ruckman or key-forward has also provided extra support for Dear, Gale and co. He was a member of the club’s Finals sides in 1995. One of the hardest trainers at the club, his efforts have been rewarded with several excellent performances in 1996. Justin is the son of John Charles who played 16 games with Footscray between 1964 and 1966. Away from football he has completed a plumbing apprenticeship.
