BIOGRAPHY
Laird was a rover, wingman and half-forward. Recruited from St. Kilda he played with that club between 1934 and 1938. Laird joined Richmond in 1939 spending four seasons although his time with Richmond was interrupted due to war service. He was a member of the 1940 Grand Final side. His highest individual goal tally with Richmond was 4 against Collingwood in Round 1 of 1941. He served in the A.I.F. for three years and saw active service in the Pacific Islands. After retiring as a player he served as secretary of the Geelong Football Club between 1947 and 1951, and St. Kilda Football Club between 1952 and 1956.
