BIOGRAPHY
Les was a ruckman and ruck-rover. A powerfully-built player he assisted Jack Dyer with the heavy ruck work.
His third senior game was as a member of the 1944 Grand Final side which he almost missed, due to military commitments . In 1946, he won the Most Determined award and in 1947 he finished third in the Best & Fairest award. After four seasons at Richmond he moved to Gippsland to coach. Les died in 1989. His brother Dennis played 59 games with Melbourne between 1956 and 1962 and was a member of one Premiership side. Dennis also coached Melbourne in 1979 . Another brother, Jeff, played in Prahran’s 1951 Premiership team.
