BIOGRAPHY
Mark was a half-back-flanker or wingman. Originally from Turvey Park he represented New South Wales Teal Cup side in 1991. He was also chosen in the 1991 Teal Cup All-Australian side. He joined Richmond’s Under/19s in 1991 and eventually worked his way through the grades to make his senior debut in Round 1 of 1993, against Adelaide. He had an outstanding 1992 pre-season and was selected in Richmond’s night Grand Final side. He is a long left foot kick, moves well and is a safe mark. At the end of 1994, he competed in the AFL Players’ Sprint winning his semi-final and only just getting beaten in the Final. He then played in Richmond’s end-of-season match in London and stood out with several brilliant passages of play. Mark was left off Richmond’s list at the end of 1994 and spent 1995 with Port Melbourne and as supplementary list player with Essendon Reserves. In 1996, he is playing with Collingwood. He is the son of John Pitura.
