BIOGRAPHY
Martin was a skilful half-forward who possessed a very good turn of speed. He first came to notice when he kicked 3 telling goals in the 1972 drawn semi-final, against Carlton, after coming on as a reserve. He was a reserve in 12 of his senior games whilst at Richmond. He was a member of Richmond’s 1972 Grand Final side as well as playing Premiership sides with the Under/19s in 1970 and Reserves in 1973. After leaving Richmond during the 1974 season, he spent a season and a half with Footscray before playing with VFA clubs Geelong West, Caulfield and Waverley in 1976 and 1977.
Prior to joining Richmond, he attended De La Salle College where he won the Champion Senior Athlete award in 1970. He retired from football at the age of 24, to concentrate on his business career and is now a senior consultant with National Mutual. Martin now lives in the eastern suburbs.
