BIOGRAPHY
Mitch Morton is the son of Noel Morton who played 171 games with Claremont in the WAFL. Mitch was playing for Claremont when he was taken by West Coast with pick 44 as a father/ son selection in the 2004 AFL National Draft . Mitch played a total of 12 games with West Coast in in 2005, 2006, and 2007 and at the end of 2007 was traded to Richmond in exchange for Richmond’s pick 35 in the 2007 AFL National Draft. Mitch played his first senior game for Richmond in Round 3 , 2008 against Collingwood. Mitch was a prominent player in the Tigers forward line playing 17 senior games in 2008 kicking 35 goals and played 21 senior games in 2009 kicking 41 goals winning the Michael Roach Medal for leading the goalkicking in 2009 and finishing 10th in the 2009 club Best and Fairest. Mitch was unable to maintain this form playing 12 games in 2010 and 9 games in 2011. At the end of 2011 Richmond traded Mitch to Sydney in exchange for Sydney’s fourth round draft selection in the 2011 AFL National Draft. Richmond did not use that selection. Mitch joined Sydney and despite playing most of the season in the reserves was selected in Sydney’s senior team for the finals culminating in Mitch kicking 2 goals in Sydney’s 2013 Premiership win over Hawthorn.
