BIOGRAPHY
Paul was a left-footed full-back who worked his way up from the Richmond Under/19 team. He was unfortunate to strike an in-form Gary Ablett in one of his early senior games. He spent four seasons with Richmond before moving to West Adelaide in 1990, when he was left off the Richmond list. He returned to Melbourne in 1991 and joined Port Melbourne where he became one of the best full-backs in VFA football. He played close to opponents ensuring that they did not get any easy scoring opportunities. A VFA Representative he was also a magnificent kick. He crossed to Frankston in 1994; however, injuries prematurely ended his season. In 1995, he led Vermont to the Premiership in his first season as playing coach.
