BIOGRAPHY
Paul played his junior and early senior football with West Torrens in South Australia. He then spent two years with the merged combination of Woodville and West Torrens under Neil Balme. Paul now plays in a key defensive position for Richmond usually at full-back or centre-half-back. He is a very strong, high mark although his disposal detracts from his game. He has shown great determination in the early part of his AFL career. He has represented South Australia twice in State-of-Origin games against Victoria in 1993 and 1995. In 1995, he more than held his own against Stewart Loewe although his team was badly beaten. During a game against Fremantle Dockers, at Subiaco Oval in 1995, he nearly lost Richmond the match by giving away a 50 metre penalty with Richmond only a couple of points in front. He redeemed himself by marking and goaling shortly afterwards. Paul was a member of Richmond’s Finals sides.
