BIOGRAPHY
Paul was a rover and forward-pocket. He was very dangerous around the goal area and this was evident by the fact that he kicked 680 goals during his career. He had a good turn of speed and the ability to gather the loose ball off the pack. He originally played 128 senior games with Geelong between 1972 and 1979 and won their Reserve's Best and Fairest in 1975. His highest individual goal tally with Geelong was 7 against Fitzroy in Round 22 of 1975 and Melbourne in Round 6 of 1977. He kicked 5 goals or more eight times. He joined Richmond in 1980 and remained with he club until the end of 1983. In round 19 of 1981 when the VFL Senior umpires went on strike, he kicked the winning goal for Richmond against St. Kilda at Moorabbin. That goal was one of 5 for the game and kicked into a howling wind at the South Road end after the final siren. Paul returned to the Geelong area in 1984 and continued playing and coaching until 19898. He then became involved in the Super Rules competition. In 1990 he was selected in the Victorian side which won the competition and was later named in the All-Australian side. He now lives in the Geelong area.
