BIOGRAPHY
Percy was a fiery rover and forward-pocket. A local Geelong boy, he had brief stints with Richmond and Melbourne before transferring to Geelong.
He also won the country district's swimming championship at the Richmond baths in 1912. Although a Geelong boy he was unhappy at being overlooked by that club as a junior and began his League career with Richmond.

In the 1913 pre season he wrote to the Richmond secretary advising he had done a lot of swimming over summer and was "as brown as a South Sea Islander".

Outside of Richmond, his highest goal tally in the VFL was 6 for Geelong in Round 8 of 1917 against Richmond. He had several run-ins with umpires during his playing career. Reported for an indiscretion during the 1918 season, he was subsequently suspended for eight games. Paradoxically, he later became an umpire, after retiring as a player and umpired in the Geelong District League between 1927 and 1929. Percy then officiated in 51 senior VFL matches between 1930 and 1933, including the first semi-final of 1931.
