BIOGRAPHY
Shane Tuck played junior football at Beaconsfield and moved to Dandenong Stingrays in the TAC Cup . Shane also played , before he was drafted to the AFL , with Hawthorn Reserves in the AFL Reserves competition. Shane was overlooked by Hawthorn as a father/son selection at the 1999 AFL National Draft and was drafted by Hawthorn with pick 24 overall in the 2000 AFL Rookie Draft . He played only reserves with Hawthorn’s VFL Affiliate Box Hill Hawks and was delisted by Hawthorn at the end of 2001. Shane then played local footy in the Mornington Peninsula league in 2002 , before moving to West Adelaide in 2003. Shane was drafted by Richmond with pick 73 overall in the 2003 AFL National Draft. Shane played at first in Richmond’s VFL Affiliate, Coburg and made his senior debut with Richmond in Round 14 , 2004 against the Brisbane Lions playing 3 senior games in 2004. Shane , playing as a midfielder became a regular senior player in 2005 playing all 22 games and finishing 3rd in the club’s Best and Fairest. Shane continued to perform well with consistent finishes in the club Best and Fairest 2006-10th , 2007-3rd , 2008-2nd , 2009-7th , 2010-5th . Shane missed Round 17, 2009 ending a 104 games streak of consecutive games since playing in Round 1 , 2005. Shane informed Richmond he would retire at the end of 2011 season but was persuaded to play another year. In Round 12 , 2012 he had a club record 23 contested possessions which he equaled in Round 18 and he recorded 298 contested possessions and 124 tackles the most of any Richmond player in a single season. These records stood for 5 years until broken in 2017 by former teammates Dustin Martin ( 363 contested possessions ) and Trent Cotchin ( 139 tackles ) .

Shane played 22 games in 2012 and finished 4 th in the club Best and Fairest . In 2013 Shane played 11 games including an Elimination Final loss to Carlton . Shane suffered a fractured scapula in Round 7 against Port Adelaide and after rehabilitation he returned to the senior team in Round 18 and played out the rest of the season . Shane retired at the end of 2013 after a grand career of 173 games with the Tigers. Shane was a much loved player by Tiger fans and greatly admired by his teammates .
Shane died tragically on the 20 th July 2020 at the age of 38.
