BIOGRAPHY
Arriving in a trade with Carlton at the end of the 2013 season, Hampson made his debut in Round 1 of the following year as cover for the injured Ivan Maric.
Largely due to injury and form, he would appear sporadically in the senior side across the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
The following year however, he would assume the mantle of number one ruckman in favour of the again injured Maric, a role that he performed admirably in.
Hampson played 20 senior games and finished top five in the league for total hit outs (652), including an impressive tally of 51 in a 70 point loss to North Melbourne in Round 11.
Unfortunately, injuries would again rear their head and persistent back troubles meant that he could only put together 8 reserves games across the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Despite this, he was still named as an emergency in the drought breaking 2017 AFL premiership, and played in the 2017 Reserves Grand Final loss to Port Melbourne.
Hampson officially announced his retirement in June, 2018 after 98 AFL games.
