BIOGRAPHY
Stephen was a half-back-flanker who came to Richmond whilst undergoing National Service Training. He was a determined, close checking player who ran straight at the ball. He had a good turn of speed and was a fine kick to position. After making his senior debut in Round 14 of 1972 he remained in the side for the rest of the season and was a member of the Grand Final side. Unable to gain a clearance to play with Richmond in 1973, he played with Glenelg in South Australia. He accumulated an amazing Grand Final record in that between 1967 and 1975 he played in teams that reached the Grand Finals of their respective competitions. During this time he played in five consecutive Premiership sides. During his career, he was involved in a total of eight Premierships.
He spent 1975 with Sandy Bay and represented Tasmania twice. After retiring he coached the Glenelg Reserves for two seasons winning two Premierships. Stephen now lives in Adelaide where he runs his own car dealership.
