Edward was a pacy wingman who was forced to retire due to a shoulder injury. A local Richmond boy, he played with the Richmond Reserves in 1927 before moving to Bairnsdale in 1928. He spent two years with that club and was a member of two Premiership sides under the coaching of former Richmond player Rupert Gibb. Edward returned to Richmond in 1930 but was cleared to North Melbourne on 28 April 1931, where he played three years with them.
After retiring, he served as North Melbourne’s Assistant Secretary and Chairman of Selectors and died in 1982.
